SAN ANTONIO – Former Navy Cryptologist and District 23 hopeful Tony Gonzales earned a ringing endorsement from a former Will Hurd challenger.

Dr. Alma Arredondo-Lynch recently gave her endorsement for Gonzales in his upcoming Republican primary runoff against Raul Reyes.

“During this election, I had the opportunity to campaign alongside Tony,” said Dr. Arredondo-Lynch. “I can say without hesitation, in this runoff, he is the best and most qualified candidate to defeat the Democrats come November. I know Tony. I support him 100%. I want to urge all of my supporters to rally around his campaign and help him win this run-off election on July 14th.”

Dr. Arredondo-Lynch won nearly 5,400 votes on March 3 and won nine of the district’s 29 counties, including her home county of Uvalde and many western counties. She challenged outgoing U.S. Rep. Will Hurd in 2018 in the primary and won over 6,000 votes.

“I am honored to have the support of my friend Alma in this runoff,” said Tony Gonzales. “Alma ran a great campaign and she earned enthusiastic support from across the district. We look forward to working with her to decisively with this runoff and defeat liberal candidate Gina Jones in the November general election.”

District 23 runs from western San Antonio to just outside El Paso.

Whoever wins will face Gina Ortiz-Jones, who won the Democratic primary back in March.
