Dear Friend,

Veterans and their families are one of our nation’s most precious communities. You have unselfishly committed yourselves to serve and have done so humbly, honorably and without reservation. That is why we wanted to reach out and introduce you to Tony Gonzales, who is running for Texas’ Congressional District 23 (the seat currently held by retiring U.S. Congressman Will Hurd).

We know firsthand the sacrifices that come with years of dedicated service to country and the challenges faced upon returning home in sometimes new and unfamiliar situations. Challenges such as employment, medical and mental health care, education, and family support. We also know Tony Gonzales.

Tony is a 20-year veteran of the United States Navy, who rose to the Navy’s highest enlisted rank of Master Chief Petty Officer. Tony was born in San Antonio and was raised in San Antonio and Edwards County. He entered the Navy at age 18, without a high school diploma, but he has since earned his college degree and is now completing his Ph.D. During his time in service, he deployed multiple times in support of combat operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. He was the boots on the ground facing the most serious of situations an individual can face.

Tony is both a devoted family man and a man of faith. He will tell you that throughout his time in service, his wife, Angel, a veteran herself, was the true hero. Finding the strength and perseverance needed to raise their six children and making the house a home. Trust us when we say that Tony recognizes the strain and sacrifice made by veterans and their families. He is keenly aware of the importance of addressing those sacrifices and ensuring their unique needs are not neglected.

Many of us served as senior military leaders, and we held an uncompromising responsibility to the more than 2.1 million active and reserve component service members and 2.6 million family members. We made the toughest of decisions, the toughest of which was sending people into harm’s way. We need a leader who knows how to make tough decisions. A leader who is truly an authentic, competent, and courageous person. Tony Gonzales is that person for all the 1.5 million Texan veterans, the 21 million veterans nationwide, and their families. The Navy does not select someone to be a Master Chief Petty Officer without such qualities!

As we have gotten to know Tony, we know he will be the kind of Member of Congress who first listens to our veterans, their families, and then drives necessary policies that will positively reinforce their distinct situations and needs. He will be your strongest advocate and we encourage you to meet and get to know Tony, the husband, the father, the veteran.

We would like to ask you to join us in supporting him now in the Republican run-off on July 14th and again during the November general election. We are including details on how you can help.

Thank you in advance for your time and consideration. We look forward to hearing from you.

Respectfully,
